July 2017 International Conductors Workshop and Competition: Maestro Adrian Gnam

The 8th summer ICWC, sponsored by the Gwinnett Symphony Chamber Orchestra and Mercer University Townsend School of Music, is scheduled for July 7 to 9, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia. This popular, intensive, well attended and well respected workshop and competition is open to conductors at all levels of experience, and is based on the techniques of Ferrara, Monteux, Musin and Szell. Faculty includes three renowned orchestral conductors: Adrian Gnam, Director and Associate Directors, Dr. Gregory Pritchard and Robert Gutter.

Each participant will conduct the professional ICWC Orchestra for up to 70 minutes throughout the workshop and on a public performance on Sunday, July 9, 2017. A major benefit will include the selection at the end of the workshop of up to three participants to conduct on a concert of one of three orchestras during a current or future season, depending on the orchestra and the winner’s availability. Past participants have recently gained positions with the Cincinnati, Ft. Worth, Detroit, New Jersey, Richmond, Portland (ME), St. Louis, Oregon and Minnesota Orchestras.

Participant fees have been reduced to $1350 .00 which includes a professionally recorded video of each participant’s orchestral sessions. Applications will be accepted until the workshop is filled, however those submitted by May 12, 2017 will receive priority. Upon notification of acceptance, a $500 deposit must be made with the balance due by June 9, 2017. Auditor fees are $350.00. No refunds will be made after June 9, 2017.
